Book Review #7 ~ “The Summer of Broken Rules” by K.L. Walther

The next book I completed was “The Summer of Broken Rules” by K. L. Walther. This book is about Meredith, who is going to Maine for her cousin’s wedding 18 months after her sister passed away. In Maine, she reconnects with her family and friends while playing the annual game of assassin. She also meets new people, including the love interest.

I haven’t read a fully romance book in a while, so this was different from the other books that I’ve read as of late. I did enjoy this book, but the romance was kind of off for me. I could definitely see the chemistry between Meredith and her love interest, but the romance seemed to develop very quickly. This makes since though, since the novel does take place of the course of a week. I liked the characters in this book, and I loved the setting of Martha’s Vineyard. There was a closed door scene but nothing more (since this book is YA). Lastly, what rules were broken?

I rated this book 3.5/5 stars and would recommend this book, specifically to younger audiences. This is my 74th book of 2025. See you soon xx Autumn
