Book Review #4 ~ “The Elite” by Kiera Cass

After reading the “Parable of the Sower,” which was very heavy, I read “The Elite,” which is the second book in the Selection series. This series follows America, a 17 year old girl, who is trying to win the Selection, which are essentially trials to become the next princess. I can’t really say anything more about the plot, since it is the 2nd book in the series.

To be honest, I only read this as a palette cleanser. I didn’t really like the first book, but I decided why not read the second. I found America very annoying in this book, just like in the first. I think that she’s whiny and she is just annoying. I don’t have a vandetta against love triangles, but America JUST COULDN’T CHOSE. I honestly think that Cass wrote America like that so there would be another Selection book. Lastly, the writing was very 2010s, just like the other elements in this book .

I rated this book 2.75/5 stars and would only recommend this book to the younger part of young adults that might actually enjoy this series. This was my 71st book of 2025, and I probably will finish the next book. See you soon xx Autumn
