Book Review #18 ~ “Every Summer After” by Carley Fortune

I read “Every Summer After” in one day, which never really happens with romance novels. This book follows a past and present timeline of Percy’s life. The past follows her as a teenager spending her summers at a lake cottage next to the cottage that two boys, Charlie and Sam, live in. The present shows Percy coming back to the lake for Charlie and Sam’s mom’s funeral, after not coming back to the lake for years.

One thing I’ve realized about romance novels is that I LOVE past and present timelines. The past timeline was definitely my favorite, especially the chapters from when Sam and Percy were young. I really liked this book, until the last few chapters when the book seemed kind of rushed and the third-act breakup was horrendous. The third-act breakup situation definitely ruined the five star feeling I had with this book.

I rated this book 3 stars and don’t really recommend it, but I ate up the first ¾ of the book. This was my 87th book of 2025. See you soon, xx Autumn
