Book Review #16 ~ “The Dragon Republic” by R. F. Kuang

I just finished “The Dragon Republic” and I’m already so excited to read “Burning God.” This book continues to follow Rin as she fights in wars and grapples with her god.
I love R. F. Kuang’s writing and this book did not let me down. This is probably my least favorite book of hers so far, but honestly that’s not harsh because all of her books are amazing. I did get confused with some of the characters, but it’s probably because I read “The Poppy War” in May and I just needed a refresher that I never got. I love how Kuang used themes of war and grief throughout this book, whether it be through character interactions or how the magic in this world works. The action scenes were also so well-written and there really wasn’t any boring moments in this story.
I rated this book 4.5 stars and do recommend this series, if you are ok with the violence that comes with this trilogy. This was my 84th book of 2025. See you soon, xx Autumn
